Each month is a journey and March was no different. We’re drawing to the end of March and our focus on change. Although I’m excited for what April will bring, I have one more thought on change for us. I was listening to a local Christian radio station recently and heard the song “Because of Your Love” sung by Paul Baloche. One phrase stuck out to me: “As we come into Your Presence, we remember every blessing, That You’ve poured out so freely from above, Lifting gratitude and praises for compassion so amazing, Lord, we’ve come to give You thanks for all You’ve done…”
The past couple of weeks on my blogs I’ve shared about taking time to appreciate what’s going on around us. There are people who are so focused on the past, and there are some who are completely focused on the future. You probably know or have known people who fit those profiles. It is good to remember what has happened to you in the past, but not good to focus on it. It’s also good to think about and plan for the future, so you don’t get caught unprepared.
But we all know how hard it is to live in the present. To appreciate the people you’re with, to notice the beautiful flowers or spring-like happenings around you, to actually be paying attention to your children or grandchildren when they are talking to you or want your attention are things that you may miss if you’re not living in the present.
Can you remember the last blessing you received? Where were you? Who blessed you? What was the blessing?
Life changes so rapidly that we have not made proper adjustments to appreciate the blessings of life. Whether you just dive into worship songs at church, read your daily Bible or religious literature quickly and put it away, or move from person to person and relationship to relationship, we don’t take time to stop and remember the blessings.
This week I want to encourage you to stop for 5 minutes a day, or 1 minute 5 times a day, to just take a deep breath in and appreciate the moment, accept the blessing and enjoy the life you’ve been blessed with. Maybe you’ll even take a moment to enjoy the changes that are taking place in your life.
I’d love to hear your hopes for this week, share them below.
