The Power of Communication

This month we’re talking about empowerment.  One of the most empowering things you can do is find your voice.  Telling your story, learning when and how to say no in your life, and sharing your value with the world are all ways you can build your power.  In order for you to create the most power from your communications, there are several things you should do.

1-speak clearly.   No mumbling, lying, hiding, avoiding, or rambling.  Be honest about who you are and what you’re saying.  It doesn’t have to be abrupt, just clear.

2-speak with heart.  Speak about that which you believe in.  Don’t bother with the gossip and topics that you don’t like.

3-listen.  One of the biggest keys to good communication is listening.  You can gain a lot of power, support and strength from being a top-notch listener.  If you’re listening more than others, you’ll know what others needs are so you’ll know what to do to fulfill their requests better than other businesses, or people, could.

4-use it wisely.  Use your communication and the power you gain from it wisely.  Wasting your power on things that are trivial, won’t matter in the long term, won’t help you or improve you, is pointless.

What do the words you’re saying tell about you?  Do they tell a great story, a tale of overcoming, victory and hope?  Do they remind people that they can accomplish anything they set their minds to?  Do your words inspire others to do or be their best?  Carefully consider how you use your words.
