What is Peace?

This month we’re talking about love, but we also have the celebration of the Peace Prize on December 10th.  So let’s take a look at what peace is:

“If we have no peace, it is because we have forgotten that we belong to each other.” Mother Teresa

“Peace cannot be achieved through violence, it can only be attained through understanding.” Ralph Waldo Emerson

“The pacifist’s task today is to find a method of helping and healing which provides a revolutionary constructive substitute for war.” Vera Brittain

“Yes, we love peace, but we are not willing to take wounds for it, as we are for war.” John Andrew Holmes

“If you want to make peace with your enemy, you have to work with your enemy. Then he becomes your partner.” Nelson Mandela

“It isn’t enough to talk about peace. One must believe in it. And it isn’t enough to believe in it. One must work at it.” Eleanor Roosevelt

“Peace begins with a smile.” Mother Teresa

Peace is a moment of quiet, a breath of fresh air, the first time you’re alone at the end of the day, a perfect bite of your favorite food, relaxing while driving and listening to your favorite song, a hug from your best friend, the feeling you get talking with the universe.  Peace isn’t just a feeling, it’s actions that create peace in the world.  What can you do to create peace?
