Yesterday was Good Friday and I shared some thoughts about how faith and fear interact. Even though I know that Jesus is God and had a slightly different perspective on things than we do, I think he felt some fear on that Friday. I think in his human state he struggled with letting go and letting God, rather than being God and rescuing himself. Jesus had to have the faith that this was His purpose and that God had things under control.
Since tomorrow is the day we know as Easter, we know that it all did work out and Jesus’ faith ultimately overcame the fear that he experienced. This gives us a glimpse into understanding what Easter really is:
Easter is one of the ultimate proofs of what having faith can do.
As Ramona C. Carroll said, “Faith is putting all your eggs in God’s basket, then counting your blessings before they hatch.”
Easter is a celebration of what is possible with faith. It doesn’t mean that there weren’t fears going through the faith experience, it means that you knew the best thing you could do was let go and let God. Sometimes the best thing you can do is to stop trying to have everything under control and start giving things over to God to help you with and guide you through.
What blessings are you going to count today by giving your eggs to God?
