“I always pray to the great and glorious Father, the God of our Lord Jesus Christ. I pray that he will give you the Spirit, who will let you know truths about God and help you understand them, so that you will know him better. I pray that God will open your minds to see his truth. Then you will know the hope that he has chosen us to have. You will know that the blessings God has promised his holy people are rich and glorious. And you will know that God’s power is very great for us who believe.” Ephesians 1:17-19
Ephesians is one of my favorite books in the Bible. I’ve always loved reading through it’s deep passages learning what God revealed so many years ago. This month’s topic is also a deep one: trust. It’s a topic that has hurt countless people and created countless victories throughout history. It may be the thing that helps us rebuild as a world.
What spoke most to me about this passage this time in reading it was the concept that we’ve all had the truth hidden from us at some point in time or another. I don’t think anyone likes to admit that they don’t know everything, but that’s the truth!
So what should our prayer be this month? It should be that we are open to learning the truth, no matter how shocking, simple, difficult, wonderful or strange it may be. Which means that not only do we have to accept that we don’t know everything, we also have to be open to learning and considering new things, and we have to take the time to learn and grow as opportunities present themselves.
God promises amazing blessings for our lives, and promises that we will find the hope we all desire, if we trust Him to lead us in the best way. What’s your biggest question or challenge about trust?
