Are You Satisfied with Today?

There are a lot of unhappy people around the world, just take a look at the news and you’ll see exactly how many.  It seems like there are only 1-2 stories shared each day  with a positive aspect; most are scary, depressing, upsetting, or about death and destruction. I could never work in the (traditional) news industry for that reason.  I have a realistic perspective about things that could/do go wrong, but I need to spend most of my time looking at and for the good in life.

Something I’m working on is being satisfied with my day at the end of it. Are you satisfied when you go to bed that you’ve done the best you could and made a difference in the world that day? Or do you feel like you’ve left so many things unfinished and just done an average job just to get things done?

At the end of the day, at the end of your life, one of the most satisfying things is to be able to say that you are satisfied, that you are proud with how your life went as you look back on it. So how do we get there? It’s about making good decisions, about surrounding yourself with people who will support and encourage you, about reaching out to a stranger to care for them, about showing love to the world rather than hate, about doing things that will make the world a better place. The other secret to being satisfied is knowing that tomorrow is a new day and if today wasn’t great, you can do things differently and make tomorrow a better day.

“I look back on my life like a good day’s work, it was done and I am satisfied with it.” Grandma Moses
