Your Lessons are My Lessons

This month in talking about lessons I want to make sure that we cover the very important option of learning from others.  I know there can be a lot of aggravating people in the world, but even they can teach us some valuable lessons.  Sometimes we have to learn the lessons for ourselves, but more often than not we can get some really good guidance from the people in our lives.

You are strongly influenced by the people closest to you in life.  If you don’t like how your life is looking, it’s a good indication that you should take a look at your life and what you’re doing and make changes.  If it’s not possible to get rid of those people then it’s important to decrease your exposure as much as possible and start exposing yourself in any way you can to people who will help you get going in a better direction.

One of the biggest lessons we can learn from other people is that we’re not alone.  There’s no reason for us to try and make it through this life on our own wisdom or power, there are lots of people all around the world who can help guide and encourage us.  It’s when we connect with people who make our personal world’s better that we should do something I enjoy: collaborate and work together to make the world a better place.  Yes, we can come up with some good ideas on our own, but when we work with others we’re able to see things we missed and consider options that weren’t available to us earlier because there was just one of us.

So this week I encourage you to check out the people in your life, are they good for you?  Are they helping your life grow and advance?  Or is it time for some new influences?

“As you navigate through the rest of your life, be open to collaboration. Other people and other people’s ideas are often better than your own. Find a group of people who challenge and inspire you, spend a lot of time with them, and it will change your life.”  Amy Poehler
